Hi,
When I start my GMC-500, it displays anything, jumps from 5CPM to 4800CPM and to 2850CPM.....and this without stopping, it seems to be broken, it has been a long time since I used it.

try to do a factory reset. If still does not work, tube may need to be replaced with m4011 / j321

Hi,
I changed the tube but I couldn't find a black tube, it seems to work well, I tried the old tube on another Geiger counter and it works, I didn't make any comparative measurements but the gas is inside otherwise it wouldn't work. Strange.........

you can use a black shrink wrap instead. or check for light sensitivity if you need to do it.

Sounds like your GMC-500 is having a real nightmare! Those CPM jumps are scarier than a jumpscare in https://fnaf.one/ ! It's definitely not behaving normally. Since it's been idle for a while, perhaps the sensor is malfunctioning. I'd suggest checking the battery first, and then maybe contacting the manufacturer for troubleshooting. Hope you can fix it before it turns into a Five Nights at Freddy's situation with your equipment!
