Hello,
I have ordered a Unit "GMC 320 V5",
There is no Identification on the backside,
on the label is only this BarCode-Nr."608939448834"

"DataViewer V2.63" is installed on a Windows10-PC.
When trying to setup WiFi Connection, I get this
fault Message: "This model does not support WiFi"

So what is running wrong?
Did I get a wrong Version "GMC 320 V4" without WiFi?
Or exists another Software for Setup?

Thks for help

My suggestion is to use GeigerLog and read out "Extended Info". This will tell you details on the counter.

Please, compare your version with this:

Same problem, perhaps?

Hi you can check your device modle by going to Main Menu -> About -> Model. It should say GMC-320+ V5 or something.

Also on dataviewer did you try the Settings -> Other?

Hello ullix,

when I check the BarCode-Nr."608939448834" from the backside-label, I find this:
"UPC 608939448834 is associated with Gmc-320 Plus V4 Geiger Counter | Nuclear Radiation Detector | Beta, Gamma, X Ray"

On the device the display sometimes shows this:
MainMenue >About >Model : GMC-320+V5
>Revision: 5.73
So what is the reason for this difference?

By the way, compared to this topic,
http://www.gqelectronicsllc.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9908
it seems, that it’s the same version.
But I am not familiar to install Py-Software, and why should I install and run GeigerLog, when another user reported this:
"... GeigerLog not running with his brand new GMC-320V5."

I don’t have a problem with GeigerLog and missing connection due to “Null characters”,
my Problem is, that I cannot establish the WiFi Connection.

Using DataViewer V2.63, the USB-connection is established, RealtimeMonitoring can be started,
Menue >Setting >Other enables to set Date/Time,
but going to >Configuration it only show empty fields.
The buttons ”Read from device”, and ”Write to device” only show “This model does not support WiFi”.
I even can not find out, if it is a Hardware- or Software-Problem.

You can read more on the user "using a GMC-320+ V5 version 5.73", and how his problem could be overcome. https://sourceforge.net/p/geigerlog/discussion/general/thread/d3c228ff79/

And while you may not care about Null character, the computers and the microprocessors of the world are of a very different opinion!

That hilarious Null character within the middle of the name could be responsible for all kinds of problems, and GeigerLog is generally more competent than the GQ software. I bet their software fails because they have not adapted their own software to recognize this self-made flawed name.

As GQ is not publishing what changes were applied to a certain firmware, let alone publishing errata, all I can do is reverse engineer these features, and provide workarounds for those defects.

If you can provide details on your system using GeigerLog, I am sure that a solution can be found (unless the counter is really defective).
