Hi,

When I try to turn off the device, I get the confirmation beep but then the display shortly shows "Battery Level 100% followed by "Charging 100%". This text remains on the display indefinitely. The percentage changes according to the remaining charge.
This was not the case when I received the unit in December of 2013.

I have tried a factory reset and turning off the GMC-320 via the GQ GMC Data Viewer 2.07 without success.

As I live in Germany, it would be quite inconvenient to have to return the counter to the US. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself? I am quite proficient in hands on work with electronic circuits.

Best regards

This is a new feature.

The feature shows battery charging status while it is off and connected to a charger.

Two way to turn it off:

1. disconnect the USB cable.
2. remove this feature by hardware fix. Remove the resistor R34 OR V11 transistor.

Great to hear from you!

The strange thing is, all this is happening while the unit is not connected to anything. It seems to believe it is being charged although nothing is hooked up to the USB port.

Since my first post I'm in the process of running the battery down until the device shuts down by itself, hoping to reset the charging logic. It still shows 25% charge after all this time, that battery lasts a long time .

Regards

If the unit shows charging without connected to a USB power, then it must be something else wrong.

Try to remove the battery and then put it back again and see if it recovered to normal.

If no connection to USB, the battery icon should not in a charging status(animation battery icon).

Removing the battery for a minute had no effect other than the prompt to set date and time coming up when the GMC-320 was switched on.

Below is a link to a short video showing the behaviour.
Alas it is very unsharp but I think the essential stuff is recognizable.

This must be something wrong with the hardware. Please write email to support@gqelectronicsllc.com for a return RMA code OR get detailed instruction if you would like to do some hardware checking.

Thank you for your offer. I like this kind of customer support

I'll opt for the hardware checking.

Email is underway, there's a fair bit of testing gear at the workplace, so I'm fairly confident we'll at least be able to narrow down the area where the fault occurs.

There is access to a 500 metric ton hydraulic press, in case of need

Looking forward to diagnosing this, can't say how timely I'll be able to do tests and communicate their results as much "real" work is to be done within the next four weeks.
There might be day-long lapses in communication but I will keep those to a minimum.

BTW, I tried ordering a spare GMC-320(+) but got an error from the site:
Temporary Errors

There are temporary errors in this store. There are no products in the cart at calculateTax. for idDbSessionCart=0

Please click here and try again.

The clicking "here" does nothing, of course. Just as any seasoned Internet user has come to expect. :)
Is the store compatible with ordering from Europe? I ordered my first 320 through ebay.

Anyway, I'm curious... What is the difference between the 320 and the 320+?

Sorry for rambling.

Wow, "500 metric ton hydraulic press" you can keep it for something else. :)

The temporary errors in this store is related to the server. You just need to ait for sometime and try it again.

The are improvement on GMC-320+. It has new case and more.
