I bought a gmc-300e this summer and I set it up with an alert at 100cpm. Never heard a peep out of it until last night at 2am. I came downstairs and saw it at about 1100cpm. this continued on for an hour or so, then it stopped and went down <40cpm.

At 4am it started up again with 700cpm, I drove to a nearby park and sat for 5 minutes, it remained >500cpm, I went back home and it was <100cpm.

An hour later, it went off again, this time I went to the fire station about a mile away, it was still alerting me and staying between 300-500cpm. They used their equipment and had readings of less than 80cpm while mine continued to show the high counts.

Now it is 9:40am and I am hanging out back at <40 cpm where it has been consistent for months.

Is my unit defective? Is there some usage pattern I am not familiar with?

Any help would be appreciated. As it stands, I don't trust my gmc-300e, but I really would like to trust it.

Mine did something similar. See my post on nonsense readings.
It got to over 2000 CPM on my desk.It was a lot worse with the
speaker on.

My unit has since been replaced
and I am testing the new one.

Can you post your serial number?

I am not sure where my serial number would be, but on the back there is a bar code with 6-26853-10032-4.

Thanks for linking to your post. How should I go about sending this in for a replacement unit or to get fixed?

Do a factory reset and see if it fixes problem. If the problem still there, then the problem may be related to the tube, you may need to replace the tube OR send the unit back for the replacement. Write email to support@gqelectronicsllc.com for the return RMA code.
