I purchased a GQ GMC-500plus brand-new. Not much is being read by it. There's a click every few minutes. However, I'm getting nothing when I try to test fresh vials of tritium, trinitite, uranium glass, and even my smoke alarms.

Is my unit broken, or am I overlooking anything in the setup?

The background should be near CPM=20. You say you are getting like CPM=0.3? That sure is too low.

Do the usual things: make a factory reset. Take out the battery for a few seconds and reinsert, restart. Any changes?

It should show the anode voltage in the menu. How many Volts does it show?

Please try to do a factory reset. If cpm still goes to 0, you will need to go with warranty.
