I知 new to Geiger counter so this may be an obvious question. But is there any utility to continuously measuring the ambient CPM/uSV in my house to alert on high readings? Thinking about this, by the time it does detect something notable (e.g. >500CPM) in my house I知 probably already screwed. Curious to hear others throughs.

I suppose the ambient readings makes sense at a macro level to see which regions are potentially at risk. (Eg areas with no readings or high readings are potential risk areas).

I suppose it also makes sense for tactical use when navigating a potentially irradiated area; If I知 fortunate enough to survive such an event.

But creating a personal alert based on a single sensor measuring ambient radiation in my home probably has limited utility.

So based on this I値l probably use it to report to gmcmap or use it exclusively when a catastrophic event occurs to navigate.

Oh and you are right I got the 10k topic ID though I知 sure you池e just yanking my chain with the promo :)

Congratulation! You have topic number 10000 !

I heard, GQ is giving out free counters for every 10000th topic poster!

Re your question:
First, stop worrying. Before you will notice anything, it is too late anyway. And most likely it will be due to a defect of the counter rather than for a real event.

But basically this feature is already built into the counter; check its manual.

For first time "Geigers" I am recommending my "Potty Training", see under https://sourceforge.net/projects/geigerlog/files/Articles/
