I downloaded this to try with my 280 I got. I can run the software with the data logger program on Comm port 9 which is where its at, but close that program, wait a few, then try the soft program and it keeps telling me that comm port 9 is opened already, which usually means its in use, but its not. The 280 is connected to it, and works fine with data logger program but not the sift geiger one. Am I missing something? I have tried several times... thanks Frank

I tested on my 280 Soft, it works good on COM3.

What comport number you are using? Can you try to assigned the COM3 to your unit?

OR try in on another computer.

Don't know what to say, tried the 280 soft, says [comm port open error], tried the 300 soft and it works with the 280 unit, but there are things listed in the menu options that don't appear to work with the 280 model. Why one works and not the other....

The GMC-300 and GMC-280 Soft Geiger Counter should have same code for the comport. It only changed the display face. They should work in same way.

I think the Soft Geiger Counter does not remember those settings. But this feature will be added later.

Oh, not sure if its suppose to or not, but when we shut it down and bring it back up, I have to keep resetting the settings, comm port, etc. Is there way it can remember what we set it too until we change it? thanks Frank

Hi, I downloaded the 280 one, still has issues openning the port, states its open already. Runs fine with the data logger program thou. So I downloaded the one for the 300 unit, and YES, that one works ok !! just the 280 version having issues. So it would be nice if the 280 version could work unless there is no real difference between the 2 of them, but if there is, then the 280 version needs attention or remove the 300 number from the displayed interface since the model won't match what we're running or perhaps a tab or selection for us to pick the model we are using it with since some of the options with the 300 version don't apply to the 280. But it does work using 300 version with the 280 unit... thanks for looking into it, hopefully it gives you an idea whats going on... Frank

download it again and try. How about GMC-300 Soft Geiger Counter?
Frank Posted - 11/03/2013 : 09:25:21
The error I am getting when I try to start is "comm port open error". Like its having a problem trying to call up the port. Works fine for the other apps, like the data logger program, same port..

Still haven't gotten the soft software to work, just won't open the port its connected too. Port works fine with the regular software...

I need to test this later.

Tried that, says all my ports are open, even thou most a not in use, so they should be available. The checkmark always stays on DEMO as well. Would be nice to try this program..?

I think it is the Soft Geiger Counter demo software bug on closing port. If you select an invailid port before exit the software, then it may fix the problem.
