I bought a GMC-300C a few days ago. When I first turned it on, I was getting 13 to 30 CPM. Yesterday, the CPM started to rise drastically, and this morning it topped 7000. My location is close to the Pocono Raceway in Monroe County, NE PA. I am about 18 miles from Tobyhanna army base.

I took my unit out of the house, and the readings remain high. The readings do change, both up and down.

Is there any failure mode which makes the unit more sensitive?

I notice that turning the unit off for a couple minutes and then turning it back on gives much lower readings.

It seems something wrong with the tube. If the tube broken, then you may have similar result.

Contact support@gqelectronicsllc.com, you may need a new tube or a RMA for the replacement.
