Hi Everyone,

Please could someone explain the units in Table mode?

Here, -50 dBm corresponds to 10 nW.
As far as I can work out from the meter, 0 dBm = 100,000 mW/m2, -50 dBm = 1.0 mW/m2.

Therefore -50 dBm corresponds to 1.0 mW/m2, corresponds to 10 nW, corresponds to 0.01 mW.

Therefore there seems to be an assumption built-in to the Power in Table Mode which is that of an area of 0.01 m2.

Is this correct?

Thank you,

Douglas

That is correct, the power corresponding to -50 dBm is 10nW and is equal to 0.00001 mW and not 0.01 mW. and 0.00001mW when converted to density becomes 1mW/m2 or 100nW/cm2.

Sorry, I realized that I muddled mW and microW.
I should have said:
Therefore -50 dBm corresponds to 1.0 mW/m2, corresponds to 10 nW, corresponds to 0.01 microW, corresponds to 0.00001 mW

Therefore there seems to be an assumption built-in to the Power in Table Mode which is that of an area of 0.00001 m2 = 0.1 cm2.

Your answer, though, is consistent and makes sense. i understand that this is related to another thread, in which you mention "gain" and other parameters.

Thanks and regards,
Doug
