Hi,

After not using the GMC-500+ for a some months, I started it yesterday and it starts and clicks are heard from it,so it seems to work but there is no text on the screen, it is white from the background illumination. It seems to respond when using the buttons.
Using the manual i can press buttons to, for example, activate sound/clicks or not.

Tried to push buttons to make a factory reset, but i am not sure if i was sucessfull.

Using one of the apps, there is info "Re 2.2" connected with the device, is that SW or HW version?

Any ideas what to do, thanks ?

Best regards,

Anders

Hi EM-logger, it is possible that the connection to the LCD from the PCB is loosened or can be because of dust. Are you able to open up the case and try to reattach the LCD connector? If you open the case it is easy to reattach the connector after cleaning/wiping it a little.

This exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. No idea how, but yes, apparently every once in a while that pesky ribbon cable comes loose. ¯\_(#12484;)_/¯

FWIW, same thing happened on a GMC-600+ and the same solution worked.

Same difficulty with no display, and although it would turn on, it would not turn off. I followed the procedure described above e.g. removing the connector ribbon and cleaning the contacts with a q-tip and a little contact cleaner. This restored full functionality.

Thanks for the tip.
