Hello all,

Rad Pro 3.1 has just been released. For GMC-800 owners who are running the open-source Rad Pro firmware (or considering it), here is a summary of what's new in this version.

For those unfamiliar with the project: Rad Pro is an open-source alternative firmware that runs on the GMC-800 alongside several other Geiger counters. It is reversible — the original GQ firmware can be flashed back at any time. Project page and source: https://github.com/Gissio/radpro

What's new in 3.1:

* New default tube sensitivity values for common Geiger-Müller tubes, derived from numerical simulations using the companion project Rad Lab (https://github.com/Gissio/radlab). For the M4011 in the GMC-800, the new defaults should give more physically grounded readings out of the box. Hence the codename "Credible Sources."
* Source presets — pre-configured sensitivity settings for common radiation sources (Cs-137, Co-60, etc.), also based on Rad Lab data.
* New Cumulative and Instantaneous secondary measurement views.
* Warnings now use short beeps and brief haptic feedback.
* Option to submit measurement data to openSenseMap.org.
* User interface updated to OpenBridge 6.1.
* Documentation split into a User Manual and a Technical Reference Manual; new procedure for setting HV without a multimeter.
* Performance and memory optimizations across the firmware.

GMC-800 specific changes in 3.1:

* Eliminated LCD ghosting artifacts on the GMC-800.
* Several minor bugs fixed.

Update procedure for GMC-800:

Use the Rad Pro web installer at https://gissio.github.io/radpro-installer/ to install or update. If you are coming from stock GQ firmware, the installer handles the initial flash; if you already have Rad Pro 3.0 or later, the same installer performs the update.

Bug reports and feedback are best directed to GitHub Issues or the project's Discussions page. Happy to answer questions here as well.

Regards,

Gissio

You can now also replace the firmware for a GMC-800 ? Compliments!

Is the latest version of Radpro still compatible with the old ones, in particular, will GeigerLog work with it unchanged?
