I've been trying to connect my GMC-320+ to my Surface tablet. The tablet is running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, it has a Intel Core i5-4300 processor with 8.0g of ram.

When i plug in the 320 to my usb port, the usb symbol will light up momentarily in the display but the software cannot detect the device.

I have downloaded the latest drivers yet, when I go to the control panel I get a message that says Profilic USB-to-Serial port (COM7) driver error.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your support.

I've rebooted too many times to count, with no luck. I've tried changing the baud rate, no luck, however, some times, the USB symbol will show up on the screen of the 320 for a short time when I plug it into the USB port. Yet when I click "Auto Detect" there is no connection.

Any other ideas?

Your Windows may updated the USB driver. You may need to remove it and install the original again.

From Windows Device Manager of control panel, right click on the item "Profilic USB-to-Serial port (COM7) driver error" item.

And then select "Uninstall" and check the "Delete file from system".

This will completely remove the problem driver from Windows.

Than reinstall the USB driver again from GQ CD or download from website.

If all else fails. Make a copy of your computer using "SYSTEM RESTORE" with the Geiger connected Restore the compute using the RESTORE POINT that you created. You should now have access to your counter... This is what I had to do with my Windows 8 Laptop now all is fine
