I attemted to download data viewer for my new GMC-320. Tried both online and from disc. Keep getting message "com port 1 open failed. Get same message when I try other port numbers. Please keep all replies simple. I am from the slide rule era and have had no formal computer training. Thanks in advance.

It seems you did not install the USB driver.

Try to installed the USB driver first, and then use software Auto Detect from the menu.

You can find the USB driver from the CD rom, OR down load it from the download page.

thanks ZLM. The problem is definitely due to not having the driver installed. I have tried multiple times to download it from the internet site as well as from the disc. Each time I try a new download I first remove the previous attempt through "uninstall". After I click "auto detect" it cycles through all the com ports then says failed to connect.

Check the driver from the device manager.
