A user had reported GeigerLog not running with his brand new GMC-320V5. We found out this is due to some unexpected naming of this device.

The device reports its version as

GMC-320+V5\x00RRe 5.73


If you are wondering: yes, you see this right, there is a Null character in the middle of the string! This is a huge "No, No" in the programming world since the last 70 years!

I can't imagine how a programmer, who has had only a minute exposure to C and C++ programming can do such a thing. Or to say it in currently fashionable jargon: How dare you?

It is frustrating having to deal with such needless annoyances. I wonder whether your own software will handle this ?
