What is the 3.5 mm socket above the USB connector (red arrow) used for? (Are there useful signals on it or is it used for programing and should be left alone)

The GMC and EMF jacks have different purposes.

Hi robeyw, looks like you have v1. That port can be used for external antenna, Edit: only for the AM/FM frequency in the spectrum for EMF380.
