I would like to simulate the device being held while connected to USB for remote monitoring.
Without some ground or counterpoise the unit fails to record the signal I am most interested in checking (switch mode noise from next door with strong component around 7MHz}. To get a time-comparative reading I sat the 380 in an aluminum bracket that covers the lower back half (insulated from it) then grounded that. I haven't tried it connected to USB like that but I wondered if there was a correct way to simulate the normal use while not capacitively coupled to the human hand?

Related - I'm also interested in knowing a way to take timed EF readings for logging through the day?

Leaving the device with a software running that is set to read at the time your want can also work.

Thanks, I was going to leave it running and use software to capture a reading at intervals, guess I'll have to read up on software. I seem to remember Windmill doing serial comms stuff, maybe I can use that to grab a timed reading.

Thanks for the device, see the world in a new light, must ask the children's nursery I pass in the morning if I can walk the grounds when no kids present, horrible EMF readings along the road beside it, substation a few feet away.

This way should work, but if you hold it, then you should at least ground yourself first.

Currently the unit doesn't have timed stamp recording feature. Except manually record the reading.
